The Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum opened on October 13th, the birthday of the United States Navy, when the USS Yorktown was opened to the public as a museum and the Patriots Point mission was underway. Patriots Point has become one of the largest museums of its kind in the world with the addition of other ships such as the destroyer USS Laffey, USS Clamagore and the USCGC Ingham. Also is the Cold War Submarine Memorial and the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum.

Charleston Charm

To experience the Charm of Charleston, plantation tours are a great way. With about a thirty minute drive you will want to give yourself a few hours to enjoy them. A great choice is Middleton Place, which also has a restaurant and an inn. This makes for a great place to stay if only visiting for a short time and then driving into Charleston the next day.
